Could A Ninja Gaiden Animated Series Work?

Post by Cicada 5 » Tue Jan 07, 2020 9:03 pm

Having looked at how well received the Castlevania Netflix show, do you think Ninja Gaiden could make for a good animated series? If so, who would you put in charge of it? What stories do you think would make for a good adaptation? And which medium would it be in, anime or western animation?

I would love to see a Ninja Gaiden animation in the vein of Ninja Scroll - probably minus the weird rape-y stuff! But seriously I think Ninja Scroll is a great example of how something like Ninja Gaiden could be adapted to animation.

I guess it's potentially problematic due to the inevitable comparisons to the much-revered game that already exists but I think the first modern Ninja Gaiden game / Ninja Gaiden Black is a story that would be well-suited to a 1.5 to 2 hour-ish animated feature. Keep the main story beats, flesh out Dark Disciple a bit more, make the script a little more charismatic, cut out some unnecessary 'levels' like the whole Monastery Underground sequence, and it could be decent.
