Ok here we go again for Sigma
I'll be listing the #1 score for each mission. If you break any of these mission scores, then either post it here or PM me. The top score is just the sum of all the top scores for every mission, so we know what is capable.
I just copied the original list from IW's. I really don't know a thing about the NGS leaderboards and don't have or know anything about the survival missions. Sorry
I think the list is kinda obsolete anyway as it's so outdated and I think it was an IW's exclusive thing.
Updated.
I'll recount the grand total later on and double check the 'records' count. Also I can't be bothered changing all the scores from green to blue so new scores in red, others in green. Sorry if you're colour blind
Going by the current standings on the leaderboards and the dust clouds that erupt when roll jumping in this thread it's been a while
After hooking up my PS3 finally for HD recording thanks to Unwary I've been digging into the leaderboards which are still up thankfully and much like story mode this needed a big update.
Biggest news is that after so many years Hamufurai has been dethroned as the no.1 MM score by WarPheonix His scores have pushed the total over 59 million which is positively bonkers
WarPheonix and me put together a list of the current top scores according to the leaderboards and had to use some judgement on which ones were bogus as we can now very accurately work out what the theoretical max is for missions and that's how the list stands now.
This is still in progress however as I'm going to search through the rest of the top ten as you never know who may have just one score that is the no.1 for a single mission. WarPheonix knows about the forum now so hopefully we'll see him in this thread soon.
Hey everyone, good to finally be on the forums. I'd be happy to contribute some of my strategies for Mission Mode on NGS - I'm really hoping that we can push the collective total over 60 million, as 58 million is definitely possible for the single player. Not played Sigma for a few months now, but quickly gotten back into it after watching JTB's "Road to 50 Million" series - still learning loads about this game!
Just got the new record for NP5 with 1,213,632 (170k UTs, ~15k essence, ~270 secs). Incredibly I only got knocked out of 1 UT by the Wisp Phantoms during the second half of the mission (decided to opt for charge-release-charge rather than going for OL UTs), and went from 94k to 170k during this phase. Time could have been improved by 30 seconds or so, as I didn't hit any Pill Bugs/Wasps with two UTs so had to redo those Also improved my MD4 record with 670,342 (40k UTs, max essence at 13,548, but a pretty slow time of 160 secs) - 680-685k is possible here, but everything would have to be perfect. My total is currently 57,655,744 and the cumulative total is 59,845,120
Just got two new records: 863,607 on DoTF5 and 1,774,737 on NP3. The 863k run was not too far from a perfect run realistically speaking, could have had one more UT in place of an emergency-release ET for ~871k but the imps don't tend to cooperate for individual UTs very often While I'm fairly happy with the 1774k on NP3, it could have been a 1.8mil run if not for two UF ETs that killed ~8 minions in total - what's so annoying about these OL ETs is that they really should have been UTs given that 2+ essence orbs were out (or at least emerging) on both occasions so I missed out on at least the 15k difference there plus a likely additional UT, and the resultant UT'd essence. May go back to this mission as it's growing on me, but it's very difficult to nail the balance between no. of UTs and essence collected. I finished with 170k UTs and about 70k essence, and while more UTs were definitely achievable this would have impacted the essence collection, and with enemies like the crab imps and blue basts dropping 1,693 with AoB when UT'd, you really want to collect as much as possible.
Also improved my CG4 score to 525,492 - 540k is probably the max, but getting blue essence drops consistently in all the waves, together with manipulating the enemies and Murai to generate UTs from single yellow essences, and trying to hit ET/UTs on the boss too, is not consistently straightforward, especially in good time. Totals are now 57,737,280 and 59,893,927 - just over 100k left to reach 60mil!
Got three new records over the last few days: NP2 (Hydracubus) - 995,407 (251k UTs, 6702 essence, ~580 secs); AL3 (ogres/imps in aquaduct) - 1,337,650 (242k, 48 UTs and 2ETs, 30 enemies (17 brown imps), ~32k essence, ~645 secs); GotU4 (Fiend Murai) - 770,820 (~67k ET/UTs in 160 secs). Also improved two of my existing records: BotA2 (Spirit Doku) - 1,097,272 (79k ET/UTs, ~23k essence, ~268 secs); UC5 (Doku) - 653,160 (47k ET/UTs, ~11.5k essence, ~157 secs).
The 995k NP2 run really was a 1000k+ run until the last five or so UTs - Hydracubus didn't have enough health left to tank the body hits that would have resulted from the next Dragon Sword/Nunchuk UT on its tentacle (the previous DS UT on the tentacle left room for only a single hit before losing it the next UT around), and so I had to wait for him to regrow the other tentacle and finish the UTs on that one, which cost me around 30 secs (x2.5 = 7,500 karma points...). But hey, that's more points for the next guy!
Hamufurai's 1055k BotA2 vid posted above shows the core karma strategy (use the camera-centering function [R1] and positioning to keep Doku on the outside of the screen to charge UTs on the ghost fish, collect 8 of the 10 essence orbs with Benediction, then use the remaining two to score another UT on Doku, and repeat for all four waves). My 1097k run just interspersed these waves with additional UTs on Doku himself - this strategy has its trade-offs (time, and quite possibly your health), but you can make contact with a lunar UT during the active frames of his sweeping sword lunge attack and grab animation, and also in the frames immediately after he throws his sword (standing near a wall can rebound his sword and avoid hitting you, making it pretty easy to time your UT release when he's next to you). Provided you score enough extra UTs, this will outweigh the time taken - positioning and release timing is important though, otherwise he'll either block your UT or he won't reach you if he's too far away when you release your UT!).
Current totals are now: 58,122,599, and cumulatively, 60,020,363!
All updated man. Huge congrats on your scores and pushing the total past 60 million. I know where I'm sending my HDMI splitter once I'm done with Sigma. We need to see you play
After finally getting round to revisiting MM, a few small updates needed here. CG4 is now 528,422 (37k UTs, ~1.5k essence, ~100 secs and ~70 percent health), FC1 is 959,002 (145k UTs + DDB'd essence, ~240 secs, ~5 percent health), and FC2 905,577 (115k UTs + DDB'd essence, ~200 secs and ~80 percent health). I would say 540k is possible for CG4, but pretty unlikely as that'd be a perfect run. FC1 is tricky to determine but 970k is doable as I missed an easy IS UT on that run getting maximal back-to-back shuriken UTs and then 1-2 hit lunar UTs quickly is key to scoring high in this mission, as well as balancing the need for additional lunar UTs with the time it's taking. Breaking 900k on FC2 was something I'd tried for the last few years but the flail clone always saw to it that it never happened...until my first day back on NGS in over a year The steps in the arena can seriously mess up your OL timing and cause your shuriken stun UTs to whiff, which you have to score highly on since you don't have the luxury of any free UT charging like in FC1. The pressure always mounts on that last shuriken, which you also have to land to get the DDB UT finish opportunity for the clone's essence. So really pleased with that one, considering just how much can go wrong very quickly. After the clones reach half health, they'll start ninpo-cancelling your shuriken/lunar UTs - after a clone lights up fire wheels, you have roughly five seconds to land a shuriken before he'll cancel it with inferno ninpo. Similarly, you have about ten seconds after a clone executes inferno ninpo to land a shuriken before he'll ninpo-cancel out of it. You can bait a ninpo cast by doing a flying bird flip and hitting the clone with triangle using the nunchuks.
Scratch those totals - just got the new record for GotU1 (Lunar Clone) with 790,185 (83k ET/UTs, 138 secs, ~60 percent health). Pretty happy with the score, as I landed all 15 incendiary shuriken UTs on the clone for 75k, then four lunar ETs (three using the in-air hit-and-windmill shuriken-trick for OL ETs). The key to scoring very high in this mission is to land as many shuriken UTs, as quickly as possible on the clone, then use the windmill shuriken/lunar ET trick to finish the mission with ETs. To score the shuriken UTs quickly, you have to be very familiar with the OL timing, especially considering there's no celerity in this mission, and try to loop certain attacks from the clone. I use the DDB to charge up while the clone is stunned (this will trigger a UT bonus from the shuriken as long as it did not hit the clone in the back) then release early so that the ET does not hit the clone (you don't want to take him below half health before you've used all 15 shurikens on him, otherwise he'll start ninpo-cancelling and snuff your UT points) - if he attempts the Twin Serpent Strike move (running triangle), you can use the residual i-frames from the DDB ET to armour through his start-up and then jump laterally away and hit him with a follow up shuriken stun. If you're lucky, you can do this four or five times in a row for back-to-back DDB ET charges and UTs from the shurikens. Most of his moves can be countered by a shuriken for a stun UT, including his wall attacks/in-air triangle, Lion's Rage (forward-square) and Black Widow (forward-square with triangle to end) etc. The max for this mission is 800-805k - unfortunately I couldn't land five lunar ETs on the clone, as after the fourth I had trouble getting the distance for the last ET setup and so decided to do a quick wall attack finish. I wasted around 20 secs with this, and missed out on one last ET, so this cost me 10k, which would've put my score at 800k. Hamufurai made a vid of his 777k run which is on the NGS boards for those interested.
Also improved my NP1 (Bone Dragon) to 724,692 (88K Warhammer ET/UTs, 6,690 essence, 290 secs, ~30 percent health). Considering how much slower this run was that what I wanted, I didn't expect to break my previous record by 10k. Collecting all the UT'd wasp essence, despite not having celerity, really helps boost your score
Just broke the MD1 (Gamov) record with 492,207 (35k UTs, 3,388 essence, 110 secs, ~60% health). Been wanting to break this one for a long time and finally had an insane run that didn't go down the pan at the end Hamufurai's 473k vid shows that you can score lucky UTs on Gamov with the Dragon Sword (works with the Kitetsu too) by lifting him and OL charging in his recovery, then releasing and hoping it makes contact when he does his close-range melee. What isn't shown in his vid is that there are two semi-effective sweet spots for UT charging - hugging each inner side of the archway leading to the bridge out of Tairon. As these pillars jut out into the arena, you can position Ryu such that, provided Gamov is also effectively off-screen in the main arena, you can charge UTs on the minions with a little luck. By using the guillotine throw to lob Gamov away from you (along the arena edges/walls adjacent to the archway pillars), you can create the space needed to roll into those sweet spots and start charging, and he won't be able to fire at you. He may run back over to you, and the minions may not back away from you off-screen, but with a bit of luck Gamov will not approach you and the minions will either periodically fire at you off-screen, or (bizarrely) simply run at the invisible boundary to the bridge continuously and not attack you. There's a ton of RNG of course, and with three waves of enemies, getting these setups to work quickly every time in a run is difficult, not very likely, and really frustrating at times. Absorb UT'd essence with Benediction; the black SAT commando can take two lvl 1 Dabi AOE UTs, so you can either do both, or finish him off regularly after the first UT to spawn a likely blue essence for a quicker UT setup on the final wave of enemies. I interspersed the waves with a few DS UTs on Gamov, but from experience you can easily waste masses of time with Gamov dodging you and your UTs not connecting, so at 108 secs just decided to izuna drop him to finish and not risk going for 40k UTs, especially considering hamufurai's run was 40k UTs and 2.5k essence at ~193 secs.
Two new records today: PotMN1 with 751,010 (89k ET/UTs, ~17.5k essence, 26 enemies, ~225 secs and ~30 percent health), and GotU2 (UF Clone) with 560,005 (53k ET/UTs, ~170 secs and ~30 percent health, including UT'd clone essence w/o benediction [8,928]). PotMN1 is a tricky mission to get top-tier scores on; anything above 720k and you've done really well. With no celerity in this mission, charging UTs is more difficult and pretty unreliable at times with white ninjas throwing shurikens to interrupt your charging. In the first wave of four enemies (two brown and two white ninjas), you can get 12k (1 ET right at the start by jumping back in a left diagonal and OL charging with the Dabi), then dealing with another ninja, then UT'ing one ninja (I use the Dabi, but you have to separate the pair to avoid both by caught in the same UT), then using forward-triangle with the Dragon Sword to lift the remaining one and charge another UT with the yellow essence from the previous enemy. The next two enemies that spawn on the starting side of the door panels that divide the room can be any of the following combinations: white ninja/samurai, samurai/silver samurai (SS), samurai or white ninja/mage (less often). You need to collect UT'd SS essence (there are four for a total of ~16k). By the end of the first seven enemies, you should have 24k (22k if you have a SS whose essence you collect, leaving only an ET most likely for the seventh enemy); if you're lucky you may get two UTs on a mage (they can take one lvl 1 Dabi UT provided they don't hit a wall), so 29k is possible, but not too likely. Take out one of the door panels to the far left or right but leave the rest of them intact and stay in the starting area - the aim is to charge ET/UTs on single enemies as they enter until you've reached 20 kills. The Dragon Sword, Lunar or Dabi are all good choices - the DS is good for more directed UTs on single enemies, while the Dabi can be helpful against mages from afar. Mages and SS can take a DS ET, or one Dabi UT (provided they don't hit a wall or haven't been damaged by the fire beforehand, which can be difficult to know!), which can sometimes give opportunities for more ET/UTs on them. The last enemies are red and vigoorian ninjas - three UTs is a good goal for the final four guys. Twenty-four enemies are the usual total, but up to 27 can spawn (up to seven red/vigoorian ninjas). I have not yet identified what the trigger is for this! I managed three UTs and an ET on the final six in my run - the ET should have been a UT but I was low on health and didn't want to chance it so settled for an ET, giving 751k rather than 758k. I reckon somewhere in the region of 780k might be the theoretical max (if you could get all 27 enemies to spawn) here, but I'm happy with 751k considering how many retries this took to get (a lot!).
GotU2 is always fun with a low-health UF opponent The general strat can be seen in Fatman67's 518k and Kell's 550k runs on NGB's BotA4 - use the nunchuks and celerity to score ETs on the clone in between his three-hit UT strings. The only difference in NGS is using either the DDB or nunchuks to finish the clone with a UT and collect his essence. This can be done with either celerity or benediction equipped, but this will require different setups due to the difference in charge time. You can score ET/UTs on the vigoorian ninjas in each wave using dropped essence too. For the clone's essence, you can whittle his health right down and keep one minion alive to then use their essence to charge a full UT with celerity (either during his UT strings as done with ETs throughout, or use the explosive arrows to hit him, which can buy you just enough to get an OL UT from a single yellow essence drop provided the fire effect hits him in the air). This will net 8,928 in-game essence (44,640 karma). If you want to use benediction to get 10,802 essence (54,010 karma), you will need to spawn either a single blue essence or two yellows in the final wave of enemies and release your 'chuk/DDB UT to finish the clone off. Be prepared for plenty of whiffed UT finishes when the clone blocks your UT I've had a few runs finishing in the 510-520k range where I missed the final UT and so lost the clone's essence bonus too, so 570-580k is definitely possible.
Just edged past hamufurai's old CG3 record (Save Rachel) with 935,352 (148k ET/UTs, 20k essence, ~400 secs and full health). Not a lot to say about this mission: UT the ghost fish pairs at the start for four UTs, collect the final pair's essences, then UT the eight archers and collect all of their essence drops with benediction. Use the Warhammer for quick finishes and control the camera to keep ogres off-screen and out of the way of your UTs; keep moving between archers if ogres are too close to them. When the RL soldiers spawn, use the incendiary shurikens to finish them off quick and forward-triangle with the WH works well too - get any UTs you can from blue essence drops, but be mindful of the increased accuracy of the RL guys (if Rachel is already on low health going into this phase then this doesn't often work out too well - fair bit of RNG as per usual!) and the fact that ogres do not stay off-screen as they do when the larger archer enemies are next to you (with no celerity, you don't really get any 'free' charging opportunities, certainly not without also hitting the ogres). I just used the nunchuks to get UTs on the ogres and finish the mission that way, but you can use lunar for single-hit UTs on them (positioning yourself just behind the stone pillar on the hill directly below the pyramid and releasing your UT when the ogres leave the floor as they jump towards you); obviously collect the essence from the ogres, as they are worth a hefty sum in karma.
