Going to get this game too

Figured might as well. I found a good quality used copy for $12 including shipping. This'll make my collection complete and allow me to get that kick ass Epigonos costume.

How much does online activation cost?

Online activation? Does anyone still play this online?

I think after Razor's Edge, this will seem pretty shoddy indeed. But I guess a quick run through story mode is worth the cool costume.

Not sure if they do play it. But, the game was pretty cheap and I get a costume out of it. Who knows. Maybe I'll like it?

If you want any advice, let me know. Slogged my way through MN on this game before the Claws and Scythe came out... you can do it with the sword, but it's a pain in the ass. :silly:

They were free for single player when they first released, dunno if you needed the online pass or not. (I had the online pass because I bought the game brand new at release.) For mission and vs. mode they were paid DLC, don't remember how much.

And Ultimate Ninja difficulty for the story mode was DLC that released a bit after the game came out, also free at the time. Not sure if it still is.

Charging money for extra weapons, on a game like this, is about as low as you can get. :picard:

Yeah. Not sure if I want UN mode. I really don't plan on playing it too much.

Is there an upgrade system in the original for skills and stuff? I don't think there is.

Not sure if there was more downloadable weapons, but:

The demo automatically had the extra weapons.

No.

The only upgrades are to your weapon, which happen automatically at a few different point in the story. (When you trade Hayate's sword for the BotA, and then again when the BotA gets 'powered up' during Ryu's vision with Genshin.)

This game sucks on so many levels. 5 minutes in, and I already dislike it. The only thing I like is the way of doing SoB. Dash into the enemy, launch them, and SoB before they land.

EDIT: phew. I only needed to get to the first save to get the kick ass Evil Ryu costume.

There are a couple things I like in vanilla, but right off the bat you can tell how much better RE is, right?

The launch -> SoB was OK and I liked how you could windpath and then FS straight back into the enemy that you just windpath'd off of. Also a couple of the sword combos don't work the same in RE (the ->YXXXB OL 360 Y XXXY for example).

But in general NG3 vanilla had lots of problems and RE fixed most of them. You should try playing MN/UN mode in vanilla sometime... :facepalm2:

Ah, I forgot about that aspect of Wind Path into FS from NG3----you're right, that was really cool. I guess they removed it from RE along with the slide launch into SoB for the same reason---they probably figured both of these maneuvers were a bit too good/too powerful to keep in RE...

Within 1 minute of playing, I can see how much better RE is than vanilla. RE feels more like NG. Vanilla doesn't at all.
