MN Karma Run Help

I wanted to first ask two questions about the Murai fight, which is really frustrating to get 8 UTs and 4 ET in.

1. Sometimes the red ninjas throw a second IS right after I block/dodge the 1st one and ruin my charge. Is there a sureway to avoid this?
2. Another problem is that when I am charging up for a full UT, sometimes I get hit by an IS right before I get the UT and sometimes I get enough time to charge. Is there a way to manipulate the AI so I can get a full UT?

I can't remember exactly how it works. It may have to do with distance or their proximity to Murai.

1. No. You need a bit of luck on that fight. A fair amount of distance is important, I'd say a distant between you and a red ninja enough to get 2 hits from a lunar UT is the best. But again luck is involved, you want them to roll to the side before throwing their IS.

2. Yeah, that is a problem. Sometime you need to let go of the Y button before the second charge cue appears. You need to have a feeling on exactly when your UT is charged.

you might want to try a low health approach. Start the fight, charge for an ET, kill a red ninja for a blue, lunar UT the other ninja from a distance, either kill him normally or get another one hit UT on him and then kill him normally for a blue, then UT Murai.

This is me just thinking out loud though. It might not work, but in theory it sounds like a good plan to me. :smile:

I got a very lucky fight and made my goal. I could have got an extra UT, but oh well. Finished chapter 1 with 673K.

EDIT: From looking at my runs, I think a key is avoiding an IS with a jump and wall bounce. Not going to try it out further though.

It will be uploaded. On Chapter 2, I didn't have enough essence so I skipped the amulet of the sun. How bad will this bite me in the first 2 fights of chapter 3?

You shouldn't need the AoTS in chapter 3, using that essence for smoke bombs in chapter 2 would be much better. Managing your smoke bombs in chapters 2 and 3 is very important if you want to maximise karma on Masakado and especially Dynamo.

I am intrigued though, what do you want the AoTS for, new tech? :smile:

Well I never skipped AOTS before and was wondering if not having it will make it hard to get karma because the enemies in chapter 3 take a lot of hits before you upgrade DS. I finished chapter 2 with about 900K.

EDIT: And I thought you can get smoke bombs with the 1st scarab in MN?

They might be the first scarab reward now that you mention it, but either way you don't need the AoTS for chapter 3 and smoke bombs are invaluable for that chapter. Looking forward to watching your vids though. It feels like forever since I last watched some NGB karma running.

Then what would be the first chapter you need the AoTS by? I don't think you need it in chapter 4 or 5. Might need it on chapter 6 for bone dragon.

The only thing you really need the AoTS for is berserkers when using the low health UF, for the bone dragon you're better off with the armlet of potency + flails and using the >YYY combo with fire wheels; does a ton of damage.

You might need the AotS in chapter 4 when you use the bow on the balcony. I think it takes 1 arrow more without it.

For JTB123: Just finished chapter 5, but really curious as to how you can get 940K on that chapter? Farm UTs on armored imps?

I got 926K. Starting chapter 6. Wow, the 2nd fight is annoying. Wondering if I should just settle for 10 UTs or aim for 11.

Going for speed and killing all 8 minions is better than going for extra UT's on Hydracubus, there are a few bosses where using UT's is better but he isn't one of them.

I hated that second fight of chapter 6, damn cat fiends can be so annoying when going for karma.

That's what I noticed on your Hydra fight, too. Also, why didn't you use the two rats trick on the 4th fight? You can get 3 UTs on that fight.

2nd fight is tough? What are you talking about? It was too easy. :D

I didn't know about the two rat trick. Honestly, I should have reviewed your chapter 5 normal run because it also had a better strategy on the galla fight. Oh well.

OK I am at Alma and in huge trouble. Is there anyway I can knock her down consistently with Y after she misses a dive or is it random?

I think some of it is random. She seems to be knocked down more often if you FS her after her orb or pillar tosses. But, it has been a while since I've tried her, so let's wait to see if I"m right.

omg i hate this fight. Got the score I wanted through brute force. I am not happy at all with my chp 6 and 7 scores but I was rushing it. Goal is 25 mil. I have to take a hiatus due to RL commitments. Maybe I will finish and put up more vids, but I have like 3 hrs/week to play until end of Jan. Hope I can update more regularly then.

Take whatever time you need. Just don't rush it or you'll regret it later.

I'm too lazy to do it myself but could you please edit your first post with your EoC scores. Thanks in advance.

BTW, I loved Fiend's Ruy's fight. That was as perfect as it can get.
